The menu

Choose by what you want

Services are grouped by what you're after. Each one shows its time, and whether it starts with a consultation or takes a deposit.

Wash day

For when you want your hair washed, detangled and handled with patience.

  • Consultation and plan

    30 min

We look at your hair dry and wet, go through what has been on it and how you care for it, and agree a plan and a time estimate. The place to start if you're new to us.

    Start here
    Book: Consultation and plan
  • Wash and detangle

    75 min

Shampoo, a conditioning step and a slow detangle in sections, then dried your way: under a diffuser, or stretched with a blow-dryer.

    Book: Wash and detangle
  • Wash day with a style

    105 min

Everything in a wash and detangle, then a finished style: a puff, a bun, a braid-out, or loose and defined.

Book: Wash day with a style
  • Take-down and detangle

    90 min

Out of twists or a braid-out? We take the style down, detangle and wash, and book your next one if you'd like.

    Book: Take-down and detangle

Cut and shape

Cut in the pattern your hair falls, not flattened out first.

  • Dry cut and shape

    75 min

Curls are cut dry, one section at a time, so we can see where each one sits. We talk through how it will fall when it's wet.

    Consultation first
    Book: Dry cut and shape
  • Trim and tidy

    45 min

Ends trimmed and the outline tidied, between full cuts, for clients who already keep a shape.

    Book: Trim and tidy
  • Big chop and transition cut

    90 min

For leaving relaxed or heat-straightened hair behind. We plan the length with you, cut it, and show you how to style the new shape.

    Consultation first
Book: Big chop and transition cut
  • Taper on natural hair

    60 min

A tapered or shaped-side cut on coily or curly hair, with the top left long, shaped or twisted. For anyone who wants the cut.

    Book: Taper on natural hair

Twist-outs, wash-and-gos and sets

Definition and stretch for your curl pattern.

  • Twist-out

    120–150 min

Two-strand twists set on freshly washed hair and taken down for definition and stretch. The wash, a conditioning step and the twisting are all in the time.

    Consultation first
    Book: Twist-out
  • Wash-and-go

    90–120 min

Hair is washed, conditioned and defined with gel or cream, applied in sections, then dried under a diffuser.

    Book: Wash-and-go
  • Rod set

    120–150 min

Flexi-rods or foam rods on damp hair for an even curl, dried under a hood dryer, then taken down and shaped.

    Book: Rod set
  • Twists and flat twists

    120–180 min

Two-strand or flat twists in your own hair, as a style that lasts between wash days. Longer or denser hair takes longer.

Silk press

Straight and moving, until the next wash.

  • Silk press

    150–180 min

Washed, conditioned, blow-dried and pressed smooth with a flat iron. It swings, and it returns to your pattern with water. We check how your hair responds to heat first, and results vary.

  • Silk press with trim and shape

    180–210 min

Color

Color planned around your curl pattern and your hair's history.

  • Gloss or tone

    60 min

A gloss or toner refreshes the shade and shine of hair that is already colored. A strand check comes first.

    Consultation first
    Book: Gloss or tone
  • All-over color

    150–180 min

One shade from roots to ends, mixed for your hair after a color consultation. A patch test may come first.

  • Highlights and face-framing

    180–240 min

The studio

Made for coily, kinky and curly hair

Four stylists, one quiet room on Rigsbee Avenue, and no rush to get you out the door.

We do wash days, cuts and shapes, twist-outs and sets, silk presses and color on textured hair. We don't do relaxers, perms or sew-in installs. If you need one, we'll say so before you book, and point you to someone who does.

Policies, before you book

Deposits, patch tests and notice, in plain words.

Booking and deposits

Book online or text us. Services marked "Deposit to book" hold your stylist's time with a deposit that goes toward your service. New clients start with a consultation, and returning clients can book the services marked "Consultation first" directly.

Cancelling and running late

Please give us 48 hours to cancel or move an appointment. Long services hold a stylist's whole afternoon, and notice lets us offer that time to someone else. If you're running late, call or text: we'll fit in what the time allows, or rebook.

If you miss an appointment

If you miss an appointment without a word, the deposit stays with the studio and we ask for a new one to rebook. It happens, and we would rather hear from you before it does.

Children and companions

Children are welcome when they are having a service. For everyone else, one guest can wait with you, so the room stays calm for people in long appointments.

Patch tests and allergies

Color and some smoothing products can call for a patch test before your first appointment, following the maker's directions. We tell you when you book and set up a short visit for it. If you have ever reacted to a hair product, or aren't sure, tell us first. This isn't medical advice: for a reaction, see your doctor.

Redos and refunds

If you're not happy with your style, tell us within a week and we'll look at it together. Results vary with hair type, history and care, which is why we talk about what's realistic at your consultation.

Tipping

Tips are welcome and never expected. Leave one at the desk or when you pay, and it goes to the stylist who did your hair.
